
Ana Cigarán Romero IEEE Region 8 WIE Chair
Ana works as a Senior Policy Advisor at the System Management Section of 50Hertz and is the Convener of the Steering Group Operational Framework under the ENTSO-E System Operations Committee. With her deep knowledge on existing and upcoming European electricity regulations, she is not only advising her company but also actively contributing to the design of the operational framework necessary for a safe operation of the energy system in Europe.
Since 2011, she has participated in the development, implementation and compliance monitoring of the ENTSO-E Network Codes and the Regional Group Continental Europe Operation Handbook. Furthermore, she has been actively involved in the design of regional processes for a secure operation of the electricity grid in Europe taking place between ENTSO-E and Regional Security Coordinators such as TSCNET and Coreso.
Ana is a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and has been an elected and appointed volunteer for Women in Engineering (WIE) since 2015. Ana is now Chair of WIE in Region 8.
Ana received her degree in electrical engineering from the Comillas University-ICAI in Madrid, Spain, in 2010. In her diploma thesis she analysed the competitiveness indicators in the Iberian Electricity Market while doing at the same time an internship in the Energy Management Direction of Iberdrola.
