
Saaveethya Sivakumar
Saaveethya Sivakumar is the Regional Student Representative of IEEE Region 10 for representing student members across the Asia Pacific. Over the course of the past seven years, she has exposed herself to various leadership positions as a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). She has actively coordinated various community projects and student activities in section, region and global level. She has participated as an invited speaker internationally for leadership conferences, forums and meetings in Malaysia, India, Australia, Japan and Singapore. Saaveethya is one of the recipients of the IEEE Women in Engineering Outstanding Volunteer Award 2016 for Malaysia Section.
She completed her PhD at Monash University and B.Eng. Electronic and Communication Engineering at Curtin University. She has also conducted various research projects in Curtin University Malaysia, Curtin University Australia and Monash University Australia. Her research focus lies in the areas of Machine learning, Signal Processing, Image Processing, Gait Analysis, Biomechanics, and Biomedical Engineering. She is strongly interested and motivated in developing STEM skills of students at their early learning stages providing university and pre-university students with interactive learning and collaborative research. As such, her future perspective is to create better wellbeing for existing social needs especially in the field of healthcare technology.
